A wind barrier membrane protects the insulation layer against uncontrolled airflow, driving rain, and moisture, while allowing water vapour to escape to the outside. As a result, it improves the building’s thermal efficiency and protects the structure against moisture-related damage.

In closed ventilated façades, the cladding fully covers the wind barrier membrane, protecting it from UV radiation. In façades with open joints, the membrane remains partially exposed, which requires the use of products with enhanced UV resistance and a high fire reaction classification.

An improperly selected membrane may degrade under UV exposure or fail to provide sufficient airtightness. Choosing the correct product ensures stable performance, long-term façade durability, and proper working conditions for the insulation layer.

In façade systems with open joints, membranes with high UV resistance and enhanced fire performance are used, such as Eurovent® FASSADE X. This product maintains stable performance even when partially exposed and provides effective protection against wind and moisture.

For façades where the cladding fully covers the wind barrier layer, universal highly vapour-permeable membranes are used, such as Eurovent® HOME, Eurovent® WALL PROTECT, and Eurovent® WALL PROTECT 3. They provide effective protection of the insulation against wind and rain, as well as fast and easy installation across various building technologies.
