What is the UV 5000 h test?
The UV 5000 h test is a laboratory ageing test used to assess the stability of a material when exposed to UV radiation. For 5,000 hours, the product is subjected to intensive radiation under conditions simulating actual sunlight exposure. This can correspond to many years of outdoor exposure under real-life conditions.
The test provides a precise assessment of how a material – such as a roof membrane or façade membrane – responds to:
- structural degradation,
- loss of flexibility and mechanical integrity,
- discolouration and colour changes,
- deterioration of mechanical properties.
